Here at Boundless NY our daily mission is to find new, interesting, but inexpensive, food to keep our tummies full and our bodies grinding. That’s not the easiest thing to do in this gentrified hood.if you’ve been to williamsburg recently, you know there is not a shortage of trendy and overpriced places to eat.

I say F that and setttle for a sandwich, mexican food or pizza. Now when it comes to pizza New York is the king of kings, so we take our pizza seriously and never settle for hipster pizza like that late night spot on north seventh and bedford ave.

Whenever a new pizza spot opens, I’m there to get my tes-taste on. lol! So for the last few months i kept walking by a new pizza place, named Vinny Vella’s, under construction on Metropolitan Ave and Havemeyer.Every time i passed i wondered who’s Vinny Vella. Would this pizza spot be the real deal or what? I mean would they have a good sauce or would the crust hold up?

With that in mind, Vinny Vellas had their grand opening last thursday with red carpet treatment and mad media heads, mob movie actors, and Willy b locals on hand. It turns out the owner, which the business is named after, is a well known actor who’s been in mad film such as Martin Scorsese’s Casino and Jim Jim Jarmusch’s Coffee And Cigarettes. The grand opening offered free food from five to ten with slices, calzones and free soda as well. Getting the point, the pizza was all that and a bag of mozarella. Great crust, tasty sauce(which i like to call gravy), and a great atmosphere to boot.

Vinny was chilling talking to everybody cracking jokes and posing for the cameras with family and friends. Looking around the red carpet scene, i felt like i was in any mob movie. i’d ever seen before that’s because mad mob movie b-role actors were in fact present. The restaurant is themed after Vinny Vellas illustrious career. Wall to wall movie posters, photos with stars, and memorabila to remind you who’s place you’re at.
