INTERVIEW WITH ACAPULCO GOLD

71

I’ve been reading Inquiringmindâ„¢ Magazine for awhile now. They have one of the most thorough sites, excellent interviews and their music selection gets the Boundless NY approval.

Peep this article they did with Acapulco Gold and then head over to the Boundless NY shop and pick up this shirt.
You know nothing starts a better conversation than a Big Daddy Kane + Madonna three some.

Boundless NY. Making you a better, well rounded person.

PIZZA AND ETHICS

70

Vinny Vella’s Pizzeria is the newest edition to the Brooklyn neighborhood. The man makes a damn good slice. Not better than Sticky Stampede’s pops, but pretty close.

I wonder if the Italian Police found Vinny’s secret recipe along with the Ten commandments they uncovered this weekend.

The BBC reports that the Italian police have found what they say is a “Ten Commandments”-style code of behavior for Mafia members, at the hideout of a captured Mafia boss.

The Mafia’s Ten Commandments

1. No-one can present himself directly to another of our friends. There must be a third person to do it.
2. Never look at the wives of friends.
3. Never be seen with cops.
4. Don’t go to pubs and clubs.
5. Always being available for Cosa Nostra is a duty – even if your wife’s about to give birth.
6. Appointments must absolutely be respected.
7. Wives must be treated with respect.
8. When asked for any information, the answer must be the truth.
9. Money cannot be appropriated if it belongs to others or to other families.
10. People who can’t be part of Cosa Nostra: anyone who has a close relative in the police, anyone with a two-timing relative in the family, anyone who behaves badly and doesn’t hold to moral values.

Look for the Te$ly $nipes write up on the newest Boundless NY ill lunch spot later this week.

"WHY GO BACK TO SHARECROPPING? WE CAN BUY THE FARM"

Many rappers these days buy cars and jewelry with their earnings. For the Oakland collective Hieroglyphics, the priorities are a little different. Instead of wearing “a house on their wrist,” says rapper Tajai Massey, 32, the Hiero crew invested in themselves and their community. Two years ago, they purchased a warehouse on 50th Street in Oakland, which serves as a base of operations, housing their label offices, multiple recording studios and a silk-screening plant.

A colorful painted mural outside the otherwise nondescript building is the only indication a hip-hop enterprise is based there. Most days, says rapper Adam “A Plus” Carter, 33, the Hiero compound, as it’s known, is a whirlwind of activity. “As soon as you walk in the door, you gonna hear some slap,” he says. “You got (hyphy artist) Beeda Weeda and the whole camp slapping it downstairs; there’s always some music coming out of there. You go to the far corner, (producer) Toure’s down there doing something. ... Slide over to the warehouse, you got people making shirts, working the silk screens. Go upstairs, there’s another studio up there; you might see Opio or Casual somewhere doing something. Then there’s the office rooms. ... You got Hiero jeans going on, people designing s-. It makes you wanna work when you get in there.” (keep reading here)

PUNK SAVES !!!

62

If we were keeping score, it would have to be Bad Brains 1 Greatful Dead 0….because you can’t possibly listen to both…..right….

Written by Arjun Ramachandran

Mark O’Dwyer owes his life to a 14-year-old punk rocker and an edgy television science program.

The 54-year-old was waiting at Lisarow train station on the Central Coast at 2.45pm on October 19 when he fainted and toppled two metres from the platform onto the tracks below, as a freight train bore down on the station.

Julian Shaw, who is 180 centimetres tall and weighs 70 kilograms, was travelling home from school with classmates when he saw Mr O’Dwyer, who is 187 centimetres tall and weighs 110 kilograms, fall. Julian leapt into action.

“I jumped down on to the tracks, lifted him off the ground and put him on my shoulder – he was heavy but there was enough adrenaline rushing through to help me,” said Julian, who is in year 9 at Lisarow High School and plays guitar in punk rock band Checkered Fist.

With the train “just a couple of metres away”, Julian moved the North Gosford resident to the edge of the track and rolled him under the platform.

But danger was not totally averted. Read more..

DEAR DISCRIMINATING BINGE DRINKER,

60

TheseArePowerfulHours.com is a loosely affiliated group of individuals bound together by a mutual love of music and drinking. Our first power hour mix was made in July of 2005. I believe it was entitled “Power Hour Mixtape All-Stars Volume 1.” The mix contained a disparate assemblage of artists ranging from Bizarre Inc to Crime Mob to Dinosaur Jr, basically encompassing everything we enjoyed listening to whilst getting fucked up. Little did we know that that first mix would change the trajectory of our party lives for the forseeable future. When you have a seemingly unquenchable thirst for alcohol and music, combined with a short attention span, there really is nothing like a well-curated, well-sequenced power hour mix to kick drive a weekend. So after two years of making and doing power hours, we figured it was high time to share it with the internet. These Are Powerful Hours, indeed.

For the Reason fan we recommend Just A Byrd: Dipset Power Hour

For the Mighty Healthy fan we recommend Bulletproof Birthdays

Pistol Pete aka Disco Doc recommends Italo Disco Power Hour

I recommend you stop wasting your money on popping bottles and start wasting your money on popping coolers of PBR.

FROM PUSSIES TO DEATH IN 10,000 YEARS OF FREAKOUT...

BOUNDLESS NY & Jimmy Papers PRESENT : THE FLOWER TRAVELLIN? BAND

In SATORI, Flower Travellin Band has a stone classic LP which grows in stature with each year. Metallers and hard rockers alike adore its fundamentalist sonic thunder, and many cite its autowreck guitar work as an influence. But no-one has yet written about how Flower Travellin Band got to that place, or even mentioned their other giant album, the far more song orientated follow-up MADE IN JAPAN, let alone the slew of 45s which they released on Warners Japan.
Flower Travellin Band was a true otherworldly force, with an amazingly concentrated and unique sounding guitarist in Hideki Ishima, a visionary producer/mentor in Yuya Uchida and a sense of musical space which made them into the Can of heavy rock…read more here
