From 1026 Gallery Press Release: Both Brackbill and Manzer use the camera to capture unguarded moments in the lives of their subjects, be they a friend or a stranger, a bedroom or an unfamiliar landscape.

Shawn Brackbill has made a career of photographing indie culture luminaries, but his portraiture defies the standards of typical “band portraits.” Whether shooting a musician before a performance or models waiting in the wings at a fashion show, the subjects populating the austere environments of his photographs seem to be caught in a cinematic state of suspended animation. Similarly, the mundane settings of Brackbill’s landscapes create a blank canvas that invites the viewer to discover the absurd or the sublime in these commonplace scenes.

AGENDA RECAP WITH CHRIS HAFNER

1093

After about twenty minutes inside the Agenda show we decided to take a Swisher Sweet lunch break on the beach. Nick and Danny love trade shows. So do I.

Mr. Shawn Brackbill.

The new camera I got for my birthday focuses really good. Looks like a painting.

Nick and Shawn sitting down for some the spiciest Thai food in Los Angeles…or possibly the entire world. Little did these guys know what was in store for them the next morning on the way to the airport.

Apparently Matt Groening and the King of the Hill guy love this place as well.

Would be cool if one of them drew a picture of what the inside of their toilet bowl looked like the next day.

Maybe I’ll do it and send it to the restaurant…the Mona Lisa of Mudd Butt!!

SHAWN BRACKBILL : TVOTR

1071

You might be familiar with Shawns work for King Stampede. I ran across these portraits this morning, so sick.

In his own words

A few weeks ago I traveled to Washington state to photograph TV On The Radio for an upcoming issue of MOJO Magazine. The photos were shot at the Columbia River gorge during the Sasquatch music festival. This isn’t the color image that the magazine chose but it is one of my favorites from the shoot. They are running the black and white portraits.

KING STAMPEDE 5 YEAR CAPSULE COLLECTION

855

(Build Up Pillbox New Era worn by Pete Leonard – Creative Director)

King Stampede 5 Year Capsule Collection:

The 5th year Anniversary Capsule contains hand picked graphics that we brought back to the drawing board for a re-edit. The designs we picked from were not “best sellers” or “classics”, in fact most of these went overlooked when they were initially released. The Graphics in this capsule are the ones that meant the most to us as designers. The ones which reminded us that we were not like other brands and that in fact we were doing exactly what we set out to do. This one as always was made for the harvesters. Thanks for 5 years !

HAVE FUN IN JAIL...

396

Do you really need to teach a 14 year old not to throw eggs? Throwing eggs at cars is something that you should do when your 14. Then you go back to your friends apartment, while his mom is gone and smoke marijuana cigarettes.

Instead this 14 YEAR OLD KID gets picked up by TWO N.Y.P.D. GANG MEMBERS, who are paid to Protect and Serve the Community, is handcuffed, tortured and left in his boxers by a swap in S.I.

Have fun in Jail you two bit flunkies.

From NY1

An indictment was unsealed today against two Staten Island police officers accused of leaving a teenager half-naked in a swamp on Halloween to try to teach him a lesson.

A 33-count indictment against Officers Thomas Elliassen and Richard Danese was unsealed this morning. Most of the counts have to do with what prosecutors say was an attempt to cover up their actions.

Investigators say the plainclothes officers grabbed 14-year-old Rayshawn Moreno in St. George. Some teens were throwing eggs at cars, although Moreno’s attorney denies his client was participating.

The teen says the officers drove him to a desolate area a few miles away and told him to strip down to his boxer shorts and lie on the ground. His lawyer says the officers yelled racial epithets, kicked at Moreno, and then left him there.

The officers were arrested on charges of unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child. They’re also facing harassment and menacing charges.
